Global Read Aloud
Last year the grade 3s participated in the Global Read Aloud. The GRA is where teachers and their classes from around the world gather via skype, edmodo, twitter, kidblog, etc... to communicate and discuss various books. This year we will be reading The Fourteenth Goldfish. We will connect with classes from around the world. I have been in touch with a class from New Zealand to connect with later in the year, as they are currently on Winter Break.
The students will use kidblog within our class to post questions and respond to their peers' posts. Kidblog is a great and safe way to learn how to responsibly communicate online. The students are registered under my account and have their own passwords. Each post and comment must be approved by myself before it is posted to our class kidblog. The only people who can see our kidblog are those who have been invited.
We will post information, wonderings, questions, and predictions about each reading on Twitter, so feel free to join our discussion from home!
Our focus for the kidblog is to develop higher order thinking skills and to pose deep questions.
Their passwords are the same as studyladder and raz-kids.
