Making Connections

We are learning about making connections when we read. At first we didn't think that we needed to make connections when reading, now, after a great discussion, we understand that making connections is an important part of becoming a better reader.

We make connections to:
-  help us learn about the topic
- help us understand the problem
- help us understand the main idea
- help us understand how the character feels

What are connections?
- When something in a book relates to you.
- When the book relates to another book or a movie.
- When an event from the story relates to an event that happened in your life.
- When an event from a story relates to an event that happened in the world.
